There is no single number that works for every business, whatever a quick search might tell you. What matters far more than frequency is consistency, a business that posts three times a week every week for a year will usually beat one that posts daily for a fortnight and then goes quiet.
Before deciding on a schedule, be honest about how much content you can realistically produce. A busy owner run business with no dedicated marketing time is better served by two strong posts a week than a daily posting plan that collapses by week three. Platforms reward accounts that show up reliably over accounts that burst and disappear.
A monthly content plan, built once and then simply worked through, removes the daily decision of what to post. That single piece of planning is often the difference between a business that posts consistently and one that does not post at all some months.
A blurry photo taken in a rush rarely performs as well as a short, well framed clip filmed properly, even if it took longer to produce. If posting five times a week means every post is rushed, three properly made posts will usually do more for the business.
This is also why a single content shoot can carry a business much further than people expect. A few hours of proper photography and video, planned around a content calendar, typically produces enough material for a month of posting, rather than scrambling for something new every single day.
Follower count is the easiest number to look at and usually the least useful one. Reach, saves and the number of people who visit a profile and then click through to a website or send a message tell you far more about whether social media is actually doing a job for the business, rather than just existing.
