Five Things We Would Check First for a Business in Worthing, Brighton or Eastbourne

2026-10-184 min read

We work with businesses in towns right along the Sussex coast, and while every business is different, there are a handful of things worth checking early on, whichever town you happen to be trading in.

One, is your Google Business Profile actually complete.

A surprising number of local businesses have a profile that exists but is missing basic information, the wrong category, no service area set, or photos that are years out of date. This is usually a quick fix and often the single highest impact thing on this list.

Two, does your website actually say where you work.

A website with no mention of Worthing, Brighton, Eastbourne or wherever a business actually trades gives search engines very little reason to show it to someone searching locally. This is the exact gap our own town pages were built to close.

Three, are your social profiles consistent with your website.

A different logo on Instagram to the one on the website, or a business name spelled slightly differently across platforms, quietly undermines trust and makes a business look less established than it actually is.

Four, are you actually asking for reviews.

Most happy customers will leave a review if asked at the right moment, shortly after a good experience, but very few will think to do it unprompted. A steady trickle of genuine reviews does more for local trust and ranking than almost anything else on this list.

Five, is your content doing more than one job.

A single photography and video shoot, used properly, can supply a month of social media content, advertising creative and website imagery all at once, rather than being used for one post and then forgotten. Businesses that treat content as reusable material tend to get far more value from every shoot.

If you are trading anywhere between Chichester and Rye and want an honest look at where your own business stands against this list, that is exactly what a free strategy call is for.
